Job Description

HII - Mission Technologies is currently seeking a Database Administrator to work out of their client's Merrifield, VA office in support of the USPS Engineering Systems Software Development Life Cycle Process Management Project.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Perform installation and maintenance of database management system.
  • Create and maintain database structures with high level of security features.
  • Support database design, creation and testing activities.
  • Alter storage structure to meet evolving needs.
  • Manage database availability and performance including incident management and issue resolutions.
  • Administer database objects to achieve optimum utilization.
  • Define and implement event triggers that alert on potential database performance or integrity issues.
  • Design database backup, archiving and storage strategy.
  • Perform regular backups, and security updates.
  • Monitor usage, transaction volumes, response times and concurrency levels.
  • Perform regular database housekeeping such as performance tuning and indexing for optimum database function.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in the field.
