HII-Mission Technologies has an exciting career opportunity for an Electrical Engineer for our HII Nuclear, Maritime Operations Team. This engineering role will be supporting a temporary 6-11 month business travel assignment at our Kesselring Site in Ballston Spa, NY after completing all initial training and then returning to Newport News, Virginia. The successful candidate will have prior NAVY nuclear experience and must have an active security clearance (Confidential or above). This position will be supporting emergent electrical engineering concerns for work on the prototype reactor and will spend most of their time on the deck plate. Electrical Engineers in the Maritime Operations group support a wide variety of different functional areas at Newport News Shipyard (NNS).  At NNS, HII builds the most advanced ships in the world, nuclear powered Aircraft Carriers and Submarines, and our engineers are integral in that effort.  Electrical Engineers may work in electrical design or power distribution in nuclear and non-nuclear applications. As part of the HII Nuclear Maritime Operations group, our engineers have access to a unique professional development program that is intended to prepare our employees for life long success with our HII affiliates supporting different Department of Energy sites and contracts around the country. 



What You Will Do

  • Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, software systems, and networks.
  • Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.



What You Must Have

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field.
  • Must have successfully completed an undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Must have prior Navy nuclear experience.
  • Must possess an active security clearance (confidential or above).
  • Must have experience utilizing industry-current Engineering design and analytical or modeling software.
  • Back shift work may be required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.



Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
