The CNC Machinist will join a team of capable professionals tasked to manufacture components at prototype to low-volume production capacity for specialized devices and systems in a rapid development environment. The successful candidate will fabricate precision mechanical components per drawings and/or CAD models and work closely with engineering to review designs and assess manufacturability. 



Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate CNC Mills & Lathes, manual lathes, manual mills, and/or various secondary equipment.  May be required to operate multiple machines simultaneously
  • Assist CNC operators with setup and troubleshooting as required.  Train and instruct other employees when requested.
  • Perform significant program edits to CNC programs when necessary.
  • Utilize knowledge of working properties and machining processes for a wide variety of materials. May be required to grind own tools for special requirements.
  • Work independently taking product from engineering drawings and CAD models to completed part
  • Collaborate with teammates to enhance product design, manufacturability, or machining approach
  • Work from work orders, routings, drawings, process drawings & layout sheets, written or verbal instructions.
  • Inspect work produced, including 1st piece inspection, using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.  Maintain tolerances as close as 0.0005 in
  • Follow preventative maintenance procedures on equipment as prescribed by the supervisor and report operating difficulties of equipment.
  • Keep machine clean and well lubricated and work area orderly.
  • Perform duties in accordance with company policies.
  • Take a proactive approach to continuous improvement including productivity, quality, safety and shop environment
  • Periodically work overtime after-hours or on weekends.
  • Perform other duties as required



Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of relevant experience or a high school diploma or GED equivalent and 5 years of relevant experience
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Strong verbal and written English skills
  • Ability to read and interpret component prints or drawings, make average to complicated arithmetic calculations and resolve elementary technical problems



Preferred Requirements

  • Active Secret (or above) clearance

  • 3+ years experience setting up and operating CNC machines

  • MasterCam experience



Physical Requirements

Will require working in an industrial environment with loud machinery.  Hearing protection will be provided. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
