We are seeking a Marine Electrician who will provide Combat Systems maintenance and training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance and assessment of Combat Systems equipment. This position is full-time and based in San Diego, CA. May involve up to 25% travel. This position will require the ability to Obtain and Maintain a Secret Security Clearance and DBIDs credential for Navy base and ship access.

What You Will Do

  • Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment.

  • Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations.

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time.

  • Maintenance, training, and assessment of Alarms/Sensors, Security systems, Exterior Communications equipment, Audio/Visual/Display systems, Force Protection equipment, Navigation equipment, Meteorological equipment, Countermeasure system and associated network system (excluding IT systems), Electronic Cooling/Dry Air system and associated repairs and to instruct Ship’s Force personnel to conduct functional checks and operational test of those system/equipment onboard U.S. Navy ships.

  • May require work travel to complete repairs on U.S. Navy ships located in San Diego, CA, Everett, WA, Pearl Harbor, HI, Japan and Singapore.

What You Must Have

  • Must have experience as a shipboard marine electronic/electrical trades specialty with 2 or more years of shipboard maintenance and repair experience.

  • Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.

  • Must be competent in the use of electronic/electrical equipment and tools in corrective repair efforts in order to accomplish ship repairs.

  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

  • Must be physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment. 

  • High School/GED education or Trade School equivalent + 2 years of related experience.

  • Start date contingent upon approved DBIDS base access, which are required for this position and continued employment.

Bonus Points For...

  • Cable way team member experience preferred

  • NAVSEA Fiber Optics certifications preferred.

  • Prefer 4 - 8 years experience in Shipboard Marine Electrical repair.

  • Active Security Clearance a plus

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
