Job Description

The Navy Integration Training Environment (NITE) Fleet Synthetic Training – Aviation (FST-A) Operations Event Lead Mission Coordinator is a member of the Navy Surface Warfare Command – Corona (NSWC) Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Operations team in support of the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) and Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE).  The NSWC Operations team provides exercise planning, system architecture and event execution solutions for the application of NSWC M&S technologies and interfaces for use in Joint, Combatant Commander (COCOM), US Fleet Forces (USFF) and the Numbered Fleets training, exercise and experimentation events.  The Event Lead Mission Coordinator is critical to the process of identifying current and evolving training capabilities and limitations to stakeholders, while identifying and providing network and integration solutions for Joint, COCOM and US Navy exercises and experiments.

Essential Job Responsibilities


  • Responsible as NCTE POC to interact with USN Air Trainers worldwide to schedule NCTE for their use in the distributed training environment.
  • Routine coordination with FST-A East, Mobile Technical Team (MTT) East and MTT West for NCTE Systems Engineer Support, NCTE Operations for C4I/LINK support and from NETTN/CIO for Network Operations support.
  • Augment and support MTT West for FST support.  Planning support to MTT East and MTT West for FST requirements with Air Trainers.
  • NCTE SME for Air Trainer operations and status. Responsible for submission of required documentation to configure air trainer firewalls to allow access to NETTN and NCTE. Work closely with other members of the Navy Aviation Distributed Training Center Pacific (NADTC PAC) team for event planning and support.
  • Generate daily event support SITREPs that combine Operations and Engineering elements with a narrative on event progression, completion, and any network or trainer related issues.  Coordinate with assigned Engineer for troubleshooting and submission of service disruption messages as applicable.
  • Attend routine meetings as the FST-A SME.  Generate monthly and/or quarterly reports on FST-A event execution as required by the contract.  Maintain detailed tracking records for all supported FST-A events.
  • Typically FST-A Operations Planners will have prior Navy Aviation experience and will coordinate with those trainers.  Experience in the Rotary Aviation or Maritime Patrol Aviation community is desired
  • Position is located on the West Coast in San Diego’s Point Loma area at the Tactical Training Group Pacific (TTGP) and embedded within the NADTC PAC.

Minimum Qualifications

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements

* Bachelor's Degree.

* 5+ years military experience.

* Prior Navy Air Trainer experience a plus.

* Experience in Navy Fleet Synthetic Training event or programs a plus.

*In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

* Must be a US citizen, currently obtain and be able to maintain a security clearance.

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
