Job Description


Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) Tactical Data Link Analyst is responsible for providing operational and maintenance support for all computer information services, data processing hardware and software related to Multi-Tactical Data Link (TDL) and Link-16 Inject to Live (LITL) systems. Accomplishes assigned tasks independently in accordance with overall project objectives and requirements.

This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area (Specialty Code 45-System Administration-Intermediate/Journeyman) and as a condition of employment, incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2, which include:

Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned, and
Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST1543.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor. Complete various DoD and corporate reoccurring training requirements, to include Information Assurance Training, CPR and First Aid


  • High School diploma or equivalent and completion of academic/technical/military training and 5 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Performs TDL and Link - Inject to Live (LITL) systems operation to support Warfighter training events. 
  • Operates and maintains the LITL system and associated Multi-Functional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Terminals.
  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all computer information services, data processing hardware and software related to the TDL and LITL systems.
  • Responsible for system remediation and maintaining systems compliances with DOD Information Assurance (IA) and Information Technology (IT) requirements.
  • Capable of maintaining and repairing PC workstations and laptop computers.
  • Provides software maintenance and upgrades to include the installation of new applications, debugging, and checkout.
  • Monitor data communication network to ensure the network is available to all systems users and resolves data communications problems.
  • Enters diagnostic commands into computers to determine the nature of the problem and reads codes to diagnose problems.
  • Read technical reference manuals for hardware and software to learn cause of problems.
  • Records system malfunctions and action taken. Required to update documentation to record new equipment installs, new site locations, and changes to computer configurations.
  • Attends staff meetings to report on resolutions to recurring system problems.
  • Responsible for implementation of required changes to the TDL and ITL systems.
  • Assists users with any systems problems such as failures of data to be displayed.
  • Review procedures users follow to determine whether specified steps were taken.
  • Works closely with staff and Government to set and maintain server and workstation configurations.
  • Creates and maintains user accounts in accordance with standard guidelines.
  • Protects the integrity and security of the systems directory structure.
  • Establishes and maintains vendor relationships to purchase related products.
  • Creates and delivers customer-training programs for end users and management.
  • Apprises supervisor of progress and unusual complications.
  • Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians. Performs organizational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance on TDLs and ITL systems equipment.
  • Document maintenance actions in IEMS.
  • Assists with CMS duties as required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License
  • Must possess and maintain an active DoD security clearance (Secret)
  • Must be a US citizen

Desired Skills:

  • JT-101 Link 16 Joint Interoperability Course. JT-102 MULTI-TDL Advance Joint Interoperability Course (MAJIC) or, 5 years’ experience in the following:
  • Link-16 Operations
  • Installation and maintenance of computer systems.
  • Network interfaces and associated equipment
  • Communications equipment and TCP/IP
  • Database configuration and management
  • Windows OS administration
  • Multi-Tactical Data Links (TDL)
  • Technical Report writing experience
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English

Minimum Position-Specific Training Required:

  • Military or Civilian training in tactical data and information links COMSEC and courier training.
  • Simple Key Loader Training (SKL)

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 50 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Daily routine travel to remote site facilities will be involved. Remote site requires ability to climb stairs while carrying equipment and work in austere environments.
