Job Summery

Join a difference-making team that is part of Huntington Ingalls Industries' (HII’s) continued growth and success. HII’s Technical Solutions IDIQ PMO is looking for an experienced Technical Writer/Editor whose primary activities will be writing and editing proposal contract deliverables such as reports and project accomplishment documentation.

This is preferably a full-time position, but we will consider part-time for the right candidate.

Responsibilities and Duties

Collaborate with and interview technical staff as necessary to capture content and data required for success stories, Scientific Technical Information (STI) and data calls.

Consult with all levels of company staff to determine objectives and schedules for writing and editing projects.

Write and edit of assigned documentation in adherence with corporate style, clarity, and consistency guidelines.

Interface as required with other writers/editors, capture staff, proposal managers, graphic artists, desktop publishers, and reproduction staff to help ensure document compliance and production quality.

Read and provide feedback on proposal content as part of HII’s formal review process.

Conduct database searches to gather required content and data for corporate proposal and documentation development efforts.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related discipline plus 10 to 12 years of directly related experience.

Technical writing/editing experience in various technical fields and writing styles.

Proposal writing experience primarily in the areas of past performance/corporate experience for large bid efforts.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for relevant work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.

Highly developed word processing skills, especially with Microsoft Word, and working knowledge of graphics and other desktop applications such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Working knowledge of Teams, SharePoint, and VPC collaboration sites.

Flexible and open to changing schedules and priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed timeframes.

Able and willing to work extended hours to meet dynamically changing needs and delivery schedules.
